Valentines Day | Anna Bruder
It’s that time of year again. That special day where the owners of Clintons cards are walking around with big smug grins on their face.
It’s easy for the girls this year, every bloke in the country is getting themselves prepared to act all surprised when they receive a new set of pants from the David Beckham/H&M range.
For the guys on the other hand, it’s not quite so easy. Even though she denies it, there is an air of expectation. How can you make her day special by doing or giving something different and original?…
Last Friday night I stumbled across a pop up shop/gallery, I work in Soho, so pop up galleries aren’t to hard to come by but this was the first where I had to walk in and take a closer look…
Artist, designer and prop maker Anna Bruder has temporarily taken residence (last day today) at 63 Broadwick Street (Soho) with her latest exhibition, this time Valentines Day themed. I’ve never seen anything like it, the whole room had Anna’s stamp on it. It was busy but you could casually walk in, look round and hand pick your own exquisitely cool ‘Anna Bruder’ flowers (these ones last forever!).
There’s even a poet called Arji Manuelpillai on hand who will write you a personal poem for your girlfriend. All you do is tell him three things about her and he’ll knock something up in 5mins!
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Anna and chat over a beer, she was lovely, and clearly buzzing from the excitement her exhibition was creating. It was a pleasure to meet someone so creative.
Anyway, lads, you have a 9 hour window to save yourselves from a month of aggro…
